Case Synopsis:
Started in Columbia, Missouri.
Several bodies have been found in and around the area of Columbia, Missouri over the last several weeks (32 weeks, currently). Upon inspection of the last body, along with looking over autopsy reports the following has been determined:
- Exsanguination was determined as the actual cause of death. (Extreme blood loss)
- There was bruising found on the wrists and ankles of victims, though all were in a state of final healing.
- There were cuts occasionally found on a victim, but not always. Cuts found seem to be in a final state of healing.
- Amounts of the following were found in the blood and cerebrospinal fluid lab checks.
(A) Increased levels of Dopamine. (Approximately 3x normal amount)
(B) Increased levels of Oxytocin. (Approximately 3x normal amount)
(C) Slightly increased levels of Adrenaline. (Approximately 2x normal amount)
(D) Increased levels of Serotonin. Highest level of all 4. (Approximately 6x normal amount)
(E) Increased activity in all ionotropic receptors and metabotropic GABAB receptors. (Approximately 6x the normal amount of active receptors at one time.)
(F) In particular, but not limited to, there were increased levels of the Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor M4. (Approximately 8x the normal amount of active receptors at one time.)
(G) Something currently unknown was found. Only the slightest trace, easily missed by most. From Cal's further research and investigation, it looks to be the trace remnants of what might be some type of neurotoxin.
(H) Upon further study of the nuerotoxin, in simulations it is found to inhibit the lateral geniculate nucleus. It is also found it reacts strongly with the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain and very quickly cause synaptic responses of thalamocortical connections to become out-of-sync.
(I) Sodium levels in the brain and on the skin were higher than normal. Ususally found around 155-165 mmol/L. And it's noted with further study of the last victim that it appears they had not ate or drank for several days prior to their death. Previous cases might infer this about the other victims as well.
Additional examination concluded the following:
(A) Increased amounts of cortisol found in all victims. Hearts were shown to have significantly more valve wear for victim's ages, and upon closer inspection it would be noted that oddly enough, it appears to be a rapid onset of wear. It was also found, once DNA analysis is done on the heart muscle cells, that they are all showing massively decreased telomere sections, as if cellular division in those particular cells had been significantly increased. It could be extrapolated, that had severe blood loss not be the primary cause of death, that the victim's heart would have just eventually given out.
(B) All deaths were noted that any water found in the lungs was not prior to death (i.e. No drowning involved) but most bodies were found on land. And the ones at ponds or large bodies of water were found near the edge and if they were found in water, that was just secondary. They were not initially dumped in water, but may have ended up there for other reasons (animals, weather, etc)

Run Away
After some absolutely terrific detective work by the Hunters, and a vision from Constance, the group was able to narrow down some possible locations of the creature(s). One group went to check out the Ha Ha Tonka State Park Castle in Camdenton, MO, and the other group went to check out the Woods-Smith Castle in Oakville, Missouri. Mina contacted Scooter on the way to Woods-Smith and gave him the information on what they had learned. He didn't know off-hand but said he would contact another Hunter and see if they had some insight and would call back. Unfortunately, upon arriving to Woods-Smith Castle, they ran into some cell phone reception issues. After group two arrived at Ha Ha Tonka State Park Castle, they thoroughly searched through an abandoned car that was found, even contacting Badger for some additional information. This helped conclude that the car was just broke down. Upon inspection on the Ha Ha Tonka Castle, they found a lower tier room but nothing in it. An outside parameter inspection made certain that this wasn't the location they needed.
Group two had just about concluded their search when they received a phone call from Scooter. Both he and his friend had been able to get in touch with Mina. Scooter had his Hunter friend contact Tony to relay the information he had found. Shortly after, a man named Rufus Tuner call Tony. He explained that based on all the information Scooter had given him, that it was most likely a Djinn that they were dealing with. He explained that these were rare and powerful creatures, capable of essentially transporting a victim to an alternate reality with a touch. He warned them to not get touched by them and that they can be killed using a silver knife dipped in lamb's blood.
Group two, minus Gator, hurried off to a local farm and stole a live lamb. They then headed back the park and picked up Gator who had concluded definitively that the park was clear. They then began their 2 hour and 45 minutes trek over to the Woods-Smith Castle to check on the rest of the group.
Meanwhile, the first group consisting of Mina, Badger and Constance made their way to Woods-Smith Castle. As the approached the grounds, Constance started to see objects she noticed in her vision. They came upon a large metal door. Upon opening the loud, creaking door, the entered the lower level of the partially built castle. Making their way down the hall, the came upon a light area. Off, in another open area room, in the corner, were two individuals on old tattered beds. They immediately went over to inspect the people on the beds. While Mina was check one person and Constance the other, Badger was jumped from the shadows. He immediately fell the ground, face covered in black veins and his eyes a complete white.
From the shadows stepped a man, covered in tattoos, with glowing, but slightly fading blue eyes. Mina and Constance both trained their guns on him and fired. Both initially missing, the tattooed man lunged at Mina touching her neck. His eyes flared bright blue, his hands glowed with blue flame, and his tattoos moved from his body onto her neck and face leaving a trail of black veins behind. Mina's eye went immediately white and she went stiff and fell to the floor.
It was then, the the second creature, this time a female, came from the shadows, trying to touch Constance. But she was just too fast and successfully evaded. Constance fired again and hit the tattooed man in the hand, but it had little effect. For several seconds the creatures tried to grab her and missed, and she fired her gun and missed them too. But eventually, Constance's luck would run out. Now with all three from the first group under the Djinn's spell, it's up to Dr. Cal, Gator and Tony to save the day....
Meanwhile Mina, Carter and Connie are all living wonderful lives in the alter world. Around 3 years go by, Mina gets promoted, married and starts her family. She decides to go back to school to work on her Masters. Everything is wonderful. Carter is becoming more involved with his dad's tech company. He eventually helps create and run an offshoot company that is very successful as well. And not to mention, finds a wonderful man to share in his life with. Connie becomes successful in her art. Her family are all doing great. She starts up her own business and grows her design and art brand in addition to helps fund scholarships for up and coming artists. She meets a wonderful man, gets married and has a couple children. Life is good for all three of them!....
While life is great for Mina, Carter and Connine, the other group is enroute to Woods-Smith castle. The group of Dr. Cal, Gator and Tony stop quick to pick up ingredients for a pressure bomb of silver and lamb's blood. The group arrives and sneaks into the ruins. The make their way up the open area, and see two people on cots and their teammates on the ground next to them. It's about that time that a female walk from the shadows up to Mina. Gator then throws the pressure bombs that goes off at it's feet. A cloud of bloody silver dust fills the air. Gator moves up to the area. A few seconds later a bird flies out of the area. Gator takes a swing and hits the bird, sending it flying down the opposite hall. Tony them fires a few round into the area where the female was seen while Gator throws a flare down the opposite hall. Gator see a silhouette move into the room on the left. Dr. Cal moves into the better position while they all wait for the fog to clear. When it does the female is gone.
Gator then moves into position to look into the room the silhouette enters. He is immediately grappled and pulled in the room. They struggle and Gator drops his bat. Tony and Dr. Cal move in to assist. Dr. Cal fires into the grapple, and accidentally hits Gator in the arm. Tony reloads waiting to get a shot and watching the area. Gator take the perfect opportunity during the struggle and plunges the knife deep into the heart of the Djinn. The Djinn's eyes immediately glow bright blue, flames start to shoot from it eyes and hands. Gator's clothes catch fire and he backs away from the Djinn. The Djinn precedes to burst into hot, blue flame and in a matter of a few seconds burns itself up, turning into an ash pile on the ground.
While Gator was busy dodging the flaming Djinn, the female Djinn made a break for the door. Tony and Dr. Cal turn towards her as she headed down the hall and both fired. The both hit her in the leg. Gator attempt a bull rush to run her down but was tripped by the Djinn. She then leapt into the air and immediately transformed in a bird. Gator tried to grab her but missed and she flew out the door. He ran after her and searched but she was nowhere to be found.
Mina and Carter awoke after the first Djinn was destroyed in addition to one of the people in the cots. Connie and other person remained in there comas. Gear was gathered and Dr. Cal gathered the pile of ash and debris in addition to some of the Djinn blood. The group called Scooter who got them in touch with Rufus. He told them to come up to him in Sharon Hollow, Michigan and he would work on a Djinn antidote.
After the female Djinn escaped, Connie's alternate reality took a turn for the worse. Her worst nightmares became realized and she ended up loosing everything including her parents (again), husband, children, her business and art career. In a moment of revenge and rage she killed her, now, ex-husband and his new wife. She was convicted of their murders and sentenced to life in prison. She spent the next few years earning a tough reputation. Her life was bleak and an emotional roller coaster to say the least.
Half the group dropped off the newly awakened, but weak, Djinn victim and the victim who is still comatose, to the local hospital. They then caught up with the other half of the group. When the group arrived, Rufus gave them the option of the Djinn antidote or using African Dream Root to enter the world she was in. Since it had been several hours, they decided to go with the antidote. It was created using some rare ingredients, including some of the Djinn's blood and administered to Connie. Shortly after it was given to her, it began to work. As a side effect of the antidote, she had a heart attack in the alternate reality and essentially died. She then work up to the group around her. Mina, Carter and Connie are all going to need some time to readjust to things as they were.
Rufus offered to go over a few things with them, if they wanted. He had some loose ends to tie up, but told them to meet back up with him in a couple days. He then poured a drink from the two bottles of Johnny Walker Blue Label and advised they leave him be for awhile. Tony and Dr. Cal went to give the other antidote to the second coma patient who was left at the hospital prior to them heading up to see Rufus.
